Who We Are
Excess Luggage Co. is the trading name of Excess Luggage Limited, an independent, family-run shipping company based at MetEx House, Great West Road, Hounslow, just a few minutes from Heathrow Airport.
Since 1998, we’ve been helping people move their luggage, personal belongings and household effects safely from the UK to destinations around the world. Over the years we’ve assisted thousands of students, families, professionals, expatriates and travellers who simply needed a reliable way to send their belongings without the stress of carrying everything with them.
Unlike many online shipping websites, we’re not a comparison site or a booking marketplace. When you choose Excess Luggage Co., you’re dealing directly with the company responsible for handling your shipment.
From collection through to export, your belongings are managed by our own experienced team. We collect your shipment, receive it into our warehouse, prepare the documentation, professionally wrap and label it where required, complete the export process and deliver it to the airline or shipping line. By keeping as much of the process as possible under one roof, we reduce unnecessary handling and help minimise the chances of delays, damage or mistakes.
For us, every shipment matters because we understand that we’re not just moving luggage — we’re moving the personal belongings that matter to you.

We collect from homes, universities and businesses throughout the UK and ship to destinations across the world. Depending on the destination and service selected, we can offer Door-to-Airport, Door-to-Port, or Door-to-Door delivery where available.

Specialist & Production Freight
Over the years we’ve handled far more than luggage. When a film production needed Formula One racing fuel for a chase-car sequence in Morocco, we collected it near Swindon, packed it as dangerous goods in 1-litre cans to airline specification, and shipped it via Royal Air Maroc — fully classified, documented and compliant. We’ve also handled freight for Indian film productions filming on location here in the UK, and we regularly air-freight high-value vehicles from Heathrow — Range Rovers, Rolls-Royces and sports cars, including picture cars for productions. We’ve also handled freight for a leading London orchestra, moving delicate and valuable instruments and equipment for their performances. It’s the kind of work that takes real classification, packing and documentation experience to do properly — a side of what we do that most shipping websites simply can’t offer.

What We Don’t Do
We believe in being open and honest about what we can — and can’t — offer. To make sure every customer receives accurate advice, there are a few services we don’t provide.
- We do not ship motor vehicles or cars by sea freight. (We can air-freight high-value vehicles — such as Range Rovers, Rolls-Royces and sports cars — from Heathrow by arrangement.)
- We are not the Ministry of Defence’s appointed contractor for official Armed Forces removals under JSP 752.
- We don’t advertise unrealistic “price per kilogram” rates because international shipping depends on several factors, including the shipment’s dimensions, destination, service level, customs requirements and airline or shipping line charges. We’d rather provide an accurate quotation than a misleading headline price.
- We also won’t accept shipments to destinations where international sanctions, conflict or legal restrictions prevent us from offering a safe and compliant service.
If we’re unable to help, we’ll tell you honestly. We’d rather give straightforward advice than promise something we can’t deliver.
