The cost of a luggage courier shipment depends on three things: your destination, the number of bags or boxes, and their weight and dimensions. Air freight is charged by chargeable weight — the greater of actual weight or volumetric weight. Sea freight is charged per cubic metre (CBM).
Charged by chargeable weight (actual or volumetric, whichever is greater). Best for 1-10 bags. 4-10 working days to most destinations, subject to space and flight availability with the carriers. Best for smaller, urgent shipments.
Charged per cubic metre (CBM). Best for 10+ boxes or household goods. 8-12 weeks transit. Typically 60-80% cheaper per cubic metre than air freight for larger volumes.
Air freight is charged by chargeable weight — actual or volumetric, whichever is greater. Compact, dense packing reduces volumetric weight and keeps costs down.
For 10 or more boxes of personal effects, sea freight LCL is typically 60-80% cheaper per cubic metre than air freight. The trade-off is time — sea freight takes 8-12 weeks. These sea transit times are approximate — the actual time depends on when your LCL container finishes loading and consolidating, the vessel’s sailing date and route, any transhipment hub before the final destination, and customs clearance, so please allow a week or two either side.
Declare all items accurately — under-declaration can cause delays at customs and invalidates insurance claims. Accurate paperwork moves faster and more cheaply.
