Charges at the other end — before you are surprised by them

On a door-to-airport service we fly your shipment to the destination airport. From that point the consignee takes over, and may be responsible for:

Collect promptly after arrival — storage fees accrue daily and are set by the handling agent, not by us. Sea freight may also incur de-stuffing, terminal handling, customs processing and storage.

Why we tell you now: we would rather over-explain than have you meet a charge you were not expecting. We believe in being upfront and transparent from the beginning. See our customs guide for the full picture.

What actually goes wrong when people ship to Guyana

Almost every shipment that gets held, delayed or re-charged comes down to the same short list — and none of it is about the freight itself. It is about what you declare, what is in the box, and how it is packed.

📋
Misdeclaration. Re-migrant relief covers used personal and household effects only — new or commercial goods sit outside it. And the relief has to be applied for at the Re-migration Unit within three months of resettling, with a passport at least five years old.
🔋
Anything with a battery in it. Laptops, phones, power banks, cordless tools, e-bikes and scooters, drones, children’s ride-ons. Lithium batteries are Class 9 dangerous goods, not ordinary cargo — loose batteries can’t travel on a passenger aircraft at all, they must be shipped at a reduced state of charge, and damaged or recalled batteries are refused outright. Tell us before you pack, and see our batteries & spare parts guide.
📦
Incorrect packing. Barrels are treated as personal effects here, but still assessed on contents. An itemised list clears faster than “assorted”, and receipts help for anything of higher value.
🗺
Assuming it’s just a box. Most people who come to us have never sent anything abroad before. There is an export declaration, an itemised inventory with honest values, packing that has to survive handling and security screening, rules on what can and can’t travel, and a customs process at the Guyana end. None of it is difficult once you know it — but it isn’t simply putting things in a box and sending them.

Tell us what you’re actually sending — including anything with a battery in it — and we’ll tell you how it needs to be declared and packed for Guyana before it leaves your door.
